What is SAP BW?

BW/BI is called data warehousing tool. BW  can pull the data from any sort of application.
The connectivity's integrated with BW system are
ØRFC Connections (Remote Function call)
ØBAPI (Business app programming interface)
ØDB (Database connect) Ex: Oracle, Sy-Base, DB2
ØFlat file
ØALE ( App Linking Enabling)
ØIdoc ( Intermediate Documents)
ØSAPI (System app programming interface)
ØSOAP (Simple object access protocol)
ØEDI (Electronic data interchange/interface)
ØInformation Broadcasting (For Reporting)

In BI we have 2 types of Data 1. Actual Data 2. Planning Data

Note :- Mostly we do have this actual data, Depends on the business only this Planning data will be available.

Database Sever: The place where the data is permanently stored.
Dataflow: The applications are accessed through the presentation server connecting  to the application server and the values passed by the presentation server will be calculated/validated against the business requirement and data is sent to the presentation server and the data is permanently stored in the data base server.
The application server and data base server are located in the client location.

LSA & LSA++ Overview

In the previous blog we seen about the overview and introduction of SAP BW and R3 Architecture, in this Blog am  going to tell about the overview of LSA and LSA++ for SAP BW/HANA.  What is LSA & LSA++ ? LSA is Layered Scalable Architecture and helps in designing and implementing various layers in the BW system for data acquisition, data distribution and data analysis. Let's see about the 7 layers.  1) Data A cquisition Layer. 2) Quality (or) Hormonization Layer.  3) Corporate Memory. 4) Propogation Layer. 5) Business transformation Layer. 6) Reporting Layer. 7) Operational Data Store Layer.  Fig 1.1.1 If we were to break down the above picture bottom upwards: 1. The ETL/Extractor which brings data from ECC and other sources would be the data acquisition layer. (This would be the 'SLT' & 'CDS View' step in the Native HANA scenario) 2. The BW transformations would be the EDW transformations & propagati
